Nokia introduced several new features for its new Lumia phones at this year's IFA conference, one of which is a wireless charging pad that glows when the user receives notifications.

The charging pad, called the DT-903 Wireless Charging Plate, lights up when the user receives an important notification while connected to the smartphone, according to CNET.

Users will also get a reminder when they need to charge their phones. The pad will alert the user when the phone is low on battery and will prompt them to charge it up before it dies. The Qi wireless standard is used for the pad, which will enable it to work with all compatible smartphones.

The DT-903 comes in the form of a flat 159 x 76 x 8.9-mm plate featuring a 1.5m USB cable on the back, SlashGear reported. Bluetooth connection is also available when the charger is attached to a Windows Phone 8.1.1 Lumia with Bluetooth 4.0 or higher. As a result, the lights can be used to mark notifications that were missed.

The charging notification will be provided when a phone's power level is below 30 percent. The light will also blink twice when the user misses a call, text message or email.

Following the Qi standard allows the pad to work with non-Lumia devices as well, SlashGear reported. However, the light feature will not be available on these devices.

The DT-903 Wireless Charging Plate will be released in October for $59 in three versions: orange, white, and green.
