Microsoft's latest attempt at luring new customers from rivals might be successful with all-new Lumia 830, complete with high-end features at an affordable cost.

Microsoft, the world's largest software company, is challenging Samsung and Apple in its efforts to win the smartphone race. At the IFA 2014 trade show in Berlin, Microsoft took the stage to unveil three new Lumia smartphones, the Lumia 830, the Lumia 735 and the Lumia 730 Dual SIM.

"We're going to challenge Apple and Samsung by offering a premium service with Lumia's first affordable flagship," Nokia CVP of mobile device sales Chris Weber said during the event on Thursday, according to The Inquirer.

Of the trio, the Lumia 830 is the most attractive.  Deemed as the company's "thinnest and lightest" high-end Windows Phone, the Lumia 830 packs premium features at an affordable price. The smartphone features a 5-inch ClearBlack 720p display, which makes it easy to read in sunlight, and is protected by a Curved Gorilla 3.0 glass. It features a 10-megapixel rear-facing Pure View camera with ZEISS technology and Optical Image Stabilizer for sharper and shake-free shots and a LED flash. The front camera features 1megapixels. The company describes the Lumia 830 as the flagship phone without a flagship price tag, according to the official Nokia Conversations blog.

Powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, the new Lumia smartphone features 1GB RAM, 16GB storage, upgradable memory and 2,200mAh removable battery, all within an 8.5mm thick body. The Lumia 830 is built with premium metal and polycarbonate to justify the flagship title.

What's most attracting is the wireless charging capability for the handset, which uses a Qi charging standard. It connects wirelessly to the phone via Bluetooth and alerts when the battery is running low. Another interesting feature in the Lumia 830 is the Screen-Sharing via HD-10, a separate device that costs $104. With this, users can beam content from the phone to TV or even the Surface Pro 3 by simply placing it on a drink coaster-like a NFC plate.

The Lumia 830 runs Windows Phone 801 with Lumia Denim update right out of the box. The Denim update brings improvements to Cortana, Microsoft's exclusive digital voice assistant, like active listening and better response alongside boosted camera capabilities, PC World reports.

The smartphone will be available in bright orange, bright green, white and black for 330 Euros (about $433).
