Brittany Murphy's dad has gone public and said that Lifetime's biopic "The Brittany Murphy Story" is "hideous," Time reported on Wednesday.

Clips and teasers for the television movie about the late star's life were released and mocked online. Murphy's father, Angelo Bertolotti, began speaking out against the project, saying it was unauthorized.

"I am disgusted and outraged that Lifetime decided to produce such a trashy project, defiling the memory of my beautiful, talented daughter," Bertolotti told Examiner.com. "'The Brittany Murphy Story' is an affront to everything my daughter was in real life. It's hideous, unauthorized and completely untrue."

But the enraged father criticized more than just Lifetime. He also slammed Amanda Fuller, the actress who will be portraying Murphy, in a series of tweets this week.

"My daughter #brittanymurphy would be horrified to know who they chose to play her and how cheap it all is," read one tweet.

"@lifetimetv Ugh. Embarrassed just watching this. Cringing for #brittanymurphy," another read.

Bertolotti said the biopic suggests that he wasn't in the late actress's life since the age of 2, which he called "absolutely despicable."

"I was always a part of Brittany's life and supported both her and her mother. Anyone who thinks that Sharon and Brittany could afford to move from New Jersey to California by selling Tupperware should have their heads examined," he said, according to Examiner.com

TV Guide echoed Bertolotti's sentiments in a review entitled:"'The Brittany Murphy Story' Looks Bad, Even by Lifetime Standards." TV Guide called the unauthorized movie a "travesty and affront to nature."

This isn't the first time Murphy's dad has caused a stir since his daughter's mysterious 2009 death. He claimed that he has an independent report suggesting his daughter had been poisoned. Her death was ruled an accident caused by a combination of anemia, pneumonia and a mix of over-the-counter drugs.
