A 6 months pregnant woman was found shot to death inside a car outside her home on Long Island, New York, CBS News reported.

Milagro "Millie" Canjura's death is being investigated as a homicide after she was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside a Toyota Camry outside her residence in Bay Shore on Saturday.

The 31-year-old was rushed to Bay Shore's Southside Hospital where she and her unborn baby girl were pronounced dead.

Police arrived at the scene on Stein Drive at around 8:30 p.m. in response to reports of gunshots. Witnesses said Canjura was on her way to work at Sprint when the suspect walked up to the vehicle and open fired, WABC-TV reported.

"They shot this young lady in cold blood," Neil Washington, a neighbor who heard the shooting, told CBS New York. "And the most disturbing part of this whole thing that was going on last night is to come out to the corner of the yard, and you could actually see her body slumped over."

"Breaks my heart," Washington added.

Canjura lived on Stein Drive in a basement apartment she rented with her husband, who is reportedly in jail, according to WABC-TV. She held a baby shower a few days ago and was said to be excited about having a child- Canjura was pregnant with twin boys but they died last September during birth, according to her friends.

Police have not yet indicated if the victim was the intended target and no arrests have been made.

Canjura's death comes three weeks after a drive-by shooting at the same residence, neighbors told CBS New York.

"So we've kind of all been on pins and needles ever since that first incident happened because it's just sad," said local resident Yvonne Simpson. "There's no other way to put it."
