Police raided the home of "Fifty Shades of Grey" director Sam Taylor-Johnson and her husband actor Aaron-Taylor-Johnson over a gun report, according to The Guardian.

A police statement issued claimed that a pedestrian called law officials after reportedly seeing an M16 rifle on a desk by the window inside the couple's London residence. However, a police report stated the device turned out to be a deactivated M16 rifle.

"Police were called at 23:40 hours on Thursday 28 by a member of the public reporting they had seen from the street what they thought was a firearm sitting on a desk by the window of property," London Metropolitan Police said in a statement. "Local officers and officers from Metropolitan police attended. The owner was not home at the time, a key holder was contacted and let police in the property. It was confirmed the firearm was a deactivated M16 rifle. No arrests were made."

The gun was given to the married couple as part of an art project.

A representative for the couple released a statement to the Herald Scotland addressing the raid, saying, "We can confirm that early this morning police were called to the London home of Mr. and Mrs. Taylor-Johnson following a report of a firearm on the premises by a concerned passer-by. The family [was] not present in the property at the time but the police gained entry via a key holder."

"The firearm was located in Sam Taylor-Johnson's basement studio and has been confirmed as a certified and fully decommissioned M16 assault rifle that was provided to Mrs Taylor-Johnson by the international charity Peace One Day as part of an art project entitled 'Peace One Day M16,'" the statement continued.
