After conquering the world of music Bruce Springsteen is now trying his hand at writing and will soon be releasing a children's book, according to media reports.

The book is about a bank-robbing baby called Outlaw Pete, based on his song of the same name. According to NY Daily News, Springsteen wrote the story based on the track's lyrics, and cartoonist and author Frank Caruso drew the book's illustrations. Simon & Schuster will be publishing the book, which will hit stores November 4, 2014

"It's a book for anybody who loves a good western," said Simon & Schuster president Jonathan Karp, whose company is publishing the book, according to the website. "It's for readers of all ages. Outlaw Pete is a quintessentially Springsteen character, brought to life here, and like the song, it's a meditation on fate, Pete is robbing banks at a very young age, and he does a lot of things he regrets, but as the lyric says, you can't undo the things you've done."

"When Bruce wrote 'Outlaw Pete' he didn't just write a great song, he created a great character," said a statement from Caruso, according to Courier Post Online. "The first time I heard the song this book played out in my head. Like Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, Dorothy Gale and for me, even Popeye, Outlaw Pete cuts deep into the folklore of our country and weaves its way into the fabric of great American literary characters.''

Bruce, who is known for his storytelling through songs like "Jungleland," has not previously published any books, though the soon-to-be-released picture book doesn't exclude Springsteen's adult fans eager for "The Boss" to explore the world of authorship.
