Lenovo is hitting the high-end smartphone market with its new flagship Vibe Z2 Pro, complete with a powerful Snapdragon processor and a QHD display, among other features.

The tech giant officially confirmed its new flagship Vibe Z2 Pro Tuesday, putting an end to a series of leaks and rumors. The announcement was made via Lenovo's official Google+ and Facebook accounts, along with a YouTube video that shows the smartphone's high-end features in action.

The China-based company kept the official announcement simple: "FROM RUMORS TO REALITY! Max performance, pro camera - we just unveiled this beast of a phone."

The 90-second video elaborates on Lenovo's brief announcement on the social networking sites. The powerful features shown in the video puts the Vibe Z2 Pro in direct competition with flagship smartphones from LG, HTC Samsung and Sony.

Under The Hood

The Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro is powered by the latest quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocking speeds at 2.5GHz, same as LG G3, but packs upgraded 3GB RAM. It uses Adreno 330 GPU for graphics and runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box. The handset packs 32GB internal storage with no microSD slot for further expansion and supports dual-SIM, LTE, microUSB and NFC.

Design And Display

Lenovo's design for the Vibe Z2 Pro isn't entirely different from the company's proprietary construction, but features some unique styling cues. Clad in a metal unibody, the smartphone features a slim profile of only 7.7mm and weighs 179grams. The super-thin bezels allow the smartphone display a wide angle for better viewing. A Li-Po 4000mAh battery lasts for long hours on a single charge.

The display size is huge at 6 inches, placing it conveniently in the phablet category. The Quad HD display with a screen resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels with 490ppi is a major attraction for the Vibe Z2 Pro. Quad HD display is slowly becoming a new standard for smartphone displays,  it is used in G3 and Oppo Find 7.

Camera

Photo enthusiasts will find the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro a worthy buy as the camera features 16 megapixels on the rear with dual LED flash. The smartphone offers various shooting modes for different environment conditions like landscape, ultra night mode and real-time camera adjustments for contrast, ISO, focus and more. It also features anti lens distortion feature to capture perfect portraits. Other camera capabilities include 4K video recording and optical image stabilization.

Availability

The Vibe Z2 Pro will come in black, gold or white colors and is expected to debut at the IFA event in Berlin next month. The details on the commercial availability and pricing are yet to be announced.
