A South African farm worker died Monday after two men continuously threw oranges at him, The Associated Press reported.

The two suspects, also farm workers, allegedly argued with 38-year-old Babanto Chauke, collected oranges and pelted them at him, said police Lt. Col. Moatshe Ngoepe, according to AFP.

"They started pelting the deceased with all those loose oranges, killing him on the spot," Ngoepe said.

"The paramedics found that the man was dead when they arrived at the scene," Ngoepe told the Star Online. "He had been hit very badly by oranges."

It is believed Chauke died of blunt force trauma, which doesn't always produce exterior lacerations or bruising, since he didn't have any visible injuries, according to Ngoepe.

There is still an active investigation, as some "complicated" things had to be verified. Police are still waiting for autopsy results.

The two suspects, ages 27 and 30, were arrested Tuesday and released pending formal charges of murder.

It is unknown what the men were arguing about, according to AP.
