Ride-sharing service Uber is testing a new way to connect with people by delivering various items to the doorstep for customers in DC.

Uber is expanding its services of ride-sharing and testing out a new delivery system called "Corner Store" in Washington DC. The new option will allow Uber customers to place orders for all kinds of products ranging from over- the-counter medicines, baby products, groceries and even candies. Uber is doing a test run for a few weeks only in DC.

The delivery system is simple and does not require users to download a new app. The Uber app will feature a Corner Store button where users must set their delivery location. Uber will send a text message with available options in the area so consumers can indicate what they want to order. The order will be taken by an Uber driver, who will call shortly before the delivery.

"No need to race to the store after a long day at the office - now you can request allergy medicine, diapers, toothpaste and over 100 other items through the Uber app," Uber posted in a blog post, Tuesday. "This limited-time-only experiment will run for a few weeks - but the more you love it, the more likely it will last."

Various products along with their quantity and price are listed on Uber's official website. Like the company's ride-sharing service, the cost of the product will be charged on the linked Uber account. As the Corner Store is still in its test phase, Uber is not charging customers for the delivery of the items

Uber has categorized the products separately for allergy relief, baby, bath and body, candy, eye care, household, office, vitamins and supplements and lot more. Since Uber is still testing the operation in DC, Corner Store is available Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. EDT. The company has assured that it will extend the hours of operations for deliveries at nights and during the weekends.
