Daryl Dixon, a character on "The Walking Dead," has yet to find love on the AMC show. He's grown close to Carol and Beth but there's never been a romantic connection, no hook-ups, not even a kiss. Fans have often wondered when Daryl would find love, some even speculated that he might be gay.

According to Comicbook.com, show creator Robert Kirkman was asked in a fan letter if Daryl (played by Norman Reedus) is gay.

"All I can say that it's been discussed. We have very specific ideas about Daryl's sexuality (or the seemingly lack thereof), and if there's ever a quiet period in the show where he's not consistently distracted by crossbowing... we'll tackle it in the show," Kirkman responded.

In The Walking Dead comic series, there's a gay character named Jesus who has a lot of similarities to Daryl: they're both tough, badass men. A couple fans have pointed out the parallel traits to Kirkman. According to Comicbook, the show creator was also asked if AMC would be ok with Daryl possibly being gay and he said the network "absolutely would."

"The Walking Dead" showrunner Scott Gimple was also asked about Daryl's love life during an April interview with Larry King.

"I would say that Daryl has already found familial love," he said. "If you're talking romantic love, I'm going to say, 'I think so.'"

What does Norman Reedus think about all the chatter regarding his romantic connections on the show? During a 2014 San Diego Comic-Con roundtable interview he joked that he was "hoping for a threesome with Melissa [McBride] and Emily [Kinney]."

McBride plays Carol and Kinney is Beth.

Season 5 of "The Walking Dead" premieres Sunday, Oct. 12 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
