Lifetime continues its rollout of female-led biopics with "The Brittany Murphy Story."

The women's cable network centers on actress Brittany Murphy in its latest TV movie. "Last Man Standing" actress Amanda Fuller will play the "Clueless" and "8 Mile" star. Sherilyn Fenn will portray Murphy's mother Sharon.

Murphy was only 32 when she collapsed in her Los Angeles home and died two hours later at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Dec. 20, 2009. The Los Angeles County coroner marked her death as an accident caused by pneumonia, an iron deficiency and "multiple drug intoxication," according to CNN.

The two-hour movie will follow Murphy's early years in the business and "her mother's efforts to turn her talented daughter into a star in the 1980s and '90s," according to The Hollywood Reporter. It will end with Brittany's death and Sharon's continued insistence that her daughter didn't die by accident.

Lifetime has not revealed the movie's screenwriter or director. Sharon did not consult or cooperate with the movie's production in any way, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"The Brittany Murphy Story" will premiere on Saturday, Sept. 6.

Lifetime has several other high-profile projects in production. An unauthorized behind-the-scenes look at the popular '90s series "Saved by the Bell" and its six stars will premiere on Sept. 1 at 9 p.m.

The network recently announced a Marilyn Monroe biopic based on the biography "The Secret Life Of Marilyn Monroe" by J. Randy Taraborelli. Next year, Lifetime will present two movies about famous female singers Whitney Houston and Aaliyah.

Angela Basset will direct and Yaya DaCosta will star in "I Will Always Love You: The Whitney Houston." The movie follows the iconic performer's early success in the music industry and her difficult relationship with Bobby Brown.

Alexandra Shipp replaced Disney star Zendaya Coleman for the title role in "Aaliyah: Princess of R&B." A tragic plane accident in 2001 cut Aaliyah's promising career short at age 22.
