Kia gives first look at its 2015 Sorento SUV featuring a longer, lower and a wider wheelbase for extra comfort. It is set to debut in October.

Kia, the renowned Korean car maker, showed off the design of its all-new 2015 Sorento SUV with a revamped look inside out. Kia has tinkered with the wheelbase in the original Sorento, making it wider and longer to accommodate more space. The first official images of the upcoming Sorento SUV were released by the car maker on Tuesday. The revamped SUV draws cues from the space-agey Kia Cross GT concept shown at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, the company said, according to the Telegraph.

The new images released by Kia show the exterior design in detail but give no indications of the interior. The 2015 Kia Sorento features a a low front grille with a 3D diamond pattern, long swept-back headlights, long bonnet and it is wider at the rear compared to the previous generation. The tail lamps carry the swept-back headlights with a similar design. The design inputs came from Kia's studios in Frankfurt and California and were led by Namyang design studio in its home country, the report added.

The official images, obtained by USA Today, show the fog lamps are revamped with a trapezoid design replacing the horizontally placed lights in the 2014 Sorento. The SUV features a higher beltline like in its predecessor and a lower roofline to give it a sleeker look. The car measures 4780mm, 95mm longer and the wheelbase is stretched 80mm to 2780, for comfortable boot space in all three rows of seating.

"While we have retained the name based on the tremendous success of the current model, the all-new Sorento has been completely redesigned and re-engineered, and promises to surprise customers with its thoroughly updated styling, a host of new convenience and safety technologies, as well as enhanced space, driving comfort and handling response," Soon-Nam Lee, Kia's vice-president of overseas marketing, said in a statement.

The Kia 2015 Sorento is expected to make its first appearance at the Paris motor show on October 2. No word on the US debut yet, but the technical details of the latest cross over will surface later this month when the new Sorento will be launched in Korea this month.
