A North Carolina woman reportedly found a swastika drawn in butter on the bun of her McDonald's McChicken sandwich on Sunday, UPI reported.

Charleigh Matice went through the drive-thru of the Morehead City fast food restaurant and discovered the anti-Semitic symbol when she went to add mayonnaise to her food. Matice went inside the eatery to confront employees with her findings, but when they offered to replace her sandwich, she asked for her money back instead.

The disturbed woman asked McDonald's workers if they thought they were being funny with this act, according to WCTI.

"Many people died because of that symbol and it's not something that should be taken lightly. It's not something that should be thrown around," Matice said, according to WCTI.

Even after the employees returned Matice's money, she didn't feel satisfied and instead wants the incident to be addressed on a larger scale. She suggested that incidents such as this one be included in employee training, or perhaps brought up more often to prevent such offensive acts from occurring again.

A statement from a McDonald's corporate office, obtained by WCTI, included an apology for the poor service that customers have received, and noted that they have already terminated the employee who was involved with tampering the sandwich. The employee's behavior was not condoned by McDonald's, and the owners do not support or stand by such innapropriate acts.

"It is about providing the best level of service and care to our customers, and anything less than that is unacceptable to us," said Dulcy Purcell, the Morehead local McDonald's Owner/Operator.

Following the incident, Matice said she isn't upset with McDonald's anymore and plans to eat there again.

"I'm a loyal customer and that's why I don't want people like that representing them," she told WCTI.
