Google rolled out a new update to its Android Search app with features useful for Chromecast users and commuters using public transportation.

Google, the world's largest internet search company, rolled out updates to its mobile apps on Android. The popular Google Search app for Android users brings new features that make it easier for commuters to travel in new places. It has also added more entertainment for Chromecast users. Updates are crucial for apps as they bring a series of improvements along with better user engagement.

With the updated app, commuters can set an alarm for when it is time to get off the train or bus, Google explained in the app's What's New section on Play Store. This feature is extremely useful for tourists and anyone who reads on public transports as they can easily miss the destined stop. Google also added a new feature called "Things to Watch," useful for Chromecast users. The update shows a Google Now Card with information suggesting TV shows, movies and other things that might interest the user.

The new features in Google Search 3.4.13 are available on smartphones running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and above.

Google also updated its Play Music app, with a host of new features that will amuse its users. The update includes a refreshed 4x1 widget and a 1x1 "I'm feeling lucky" widget for quick access to tunes suggested by Google, according to Droid-Life. The web giant also added "Manage downloads" section to see the progress of any download and the free memory space left on the device. Users can also undo the swiped away songs.

The report also found the updated Google Play Music app responds to long-press function on songs to move them around in the playlists.

Both apps, Google Search and Google Play Music, are available for download from Play Store. Android smartphone users can update the app directly from their devices by accessing Google Play Store.
