James Franco rubbished recent rumors that he was gay and teased fans about tying the knot with Lana Del Rey.

Responding to an article on Gawker titled "James Franco Is Living With A Man", which picked up on a report he was sharing an apartment with his "Child of God" co-star Scott Haze, Franco posted on Instagram: "GAWKER - always getting the cutting edge, homophobic scoop!!!"

"Go see CHILD OF GOD in theaters and see me direct my live-in boyfriend, SCOTT HAZE!!!" Franco continued. "Love you SCOTT!!!!"

The Gawker post was based on a New York Times article that noted the two men - described as being "so close that describing them merely as friends would be a disservice" - were living together in Brooklyn for the summer.

Speculations of Franco being gay have been floating around ever since he portrayed a 17-year-old in a relationship with an older man in 2002′s "Blind Spot". He later played gay characters in "Milk and Howl".

"Some people think I'm gay because I've played these gay roles. That's what people think, but it's not true," he told Advocate in 2010. "I'm not gay. But on another level, there's something in me that is able to play roles like that in a way that's convincing."

He also addressed those gay rumors in 2013 during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"There are lots of other reasons to be interested in gay characters than wanting myself to go out and have sex with guys," he told the tabloid. "Part of what I'm interested in is how these people who were living anti-normative lifestyles contended with opposition... Or, you know what, maybe I'm just gay."

In fact, the actor got so fed of being referred to as gay that in 2013 he told Daily Beast that it might have been easier if he was actually attracted to men.

"I don't even care if people think I'm gay," he said, responding to the many jokes about his sexuality during a Comedy Central roast. "So it was like, 'Awesome!' I mean, I wish I was... I wish I was gay."

As if the gay rumors weren't getting him enough attention, Franco also posted a picture of himself and Del Rey, suggesting the couple had tied the knot.

"Oh snap, we got married. JUST KIDDING!!!" he captioned the picture.
