LinkedIn is shifting focus to mobiles and has rolled out a fresh design for its apps on Android and iOS.

The renowned professional social networking service, LinkedIn, is making an impact in the mobile space with a major redesign for apps on Android and iOS. The makeover is focused on users' profiles to make the first impression impactful. It offers a cleaner and a streamlined look with relevant information taking the front seat.

The new update, internally known as "Blue Steel," was pushed to simplify and enhance the mobile experience. The profile picture is front and center and also appears in a blurred form in the background. The user's company, job title, location, education and connections are brought to the forefront to make the profile look informative as well as less clustered. Visiting others' profiles will display a new endorsement section and common interests, which LinkedIn hopes will serve as "an ice breaker" to incite first time conversations.

"Your LinkedIn Profile is your professional identity of record. It's also the heart of LinkedIn," Charlton Soesanto, product manager for LinkedIn mobile, wrote in the company's official blog post, Monday. "Your new profile helps you tell your story to other professionals when they're looking for you on the go. If you aren't a master storyteller, we'll let you know what's missing and how you can add it."

The new design is available to both iPhone and Android smartphone users with the latest version, as well as on the mobile web browser. The update also helps users edit profile from within the mobile device with LinkedIn's prompts to help update the missing information.

The update also makes it easier for you to view common connections, groups, or whether you overlapped any years in school or shared the same company in the past. Such information will help users build a better rapport in situations like in a business meeting or an interview.

The updated LinkedIn app is available for download from Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
