Don’t expect to “Assassin’s Creed: Unity” lead Arno to be a rough-and-tough kind of guy.

“Assassin’s Creed” writer Travis Stout explained to GameSpot the character is dealing with his demons throughout the title. Though he is loyal to the Assassins, he remains his own person and thinks for himself.

"He is a very driven young man. He is haunted by mistakes in his past or perceived mistakes, that he feels he must atone for," Stout said. "He is very devoted to the Assassin Order as an ideal but, at the same time, he is not as impressed with the weight of the long mystical tradition and ancient rhetoric as some of the other Assassins. He likes to think for himself and make his own decisions. He isn't the type of person who will believe something just because someone tells it to him."

Stout added Arno’s family has a long history with the Assassins. Arno is “well-educated” and wants to follow his own path.

"He has a habit of quoting the classics and tends to use humor to deflect when he is emotionally vulnerable, like a lot of people do I think," Stout told GameSpot. "We very much wanted him to not be the sort of grizzled badass spouting one-liners that you see in a lot of action movies. We wanted him to feel like an actual person."

Arno will also have help from his fellow Assassin in order to right his wrongs. Ubisoft introduced the title’s new four-player co-op mode during E3 2014. Ubisoft Chairmen and CEO Yves Guillemot told the company’s official blog the co-op mode is only a sneak peak of the power of next-gen technology.

"It's a game that takes full advantage of the new gen," Guillemot told Ubisoft's blog. "It's really a good demonstration of what those machines can do. And people are amazed. They didn't expect those machines to deliver that level of graphics and animation quality, the depth of the number of people that can move in the environment, and so on. It's helping the brand to have a new beginning with totally different possibilities."

“Assassin’s Creed: Unity” will be for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on Oct. 28.
