Actor Kelsey Grammer gave a testimony at the parole board hearing for inmate Freddie Glenn, the man who was charged with raping and killing his sister Karen Elisa Grammer in 1975.

The 59-year-old "Cheers" actor told officials that he misses his sister, but he has forgiven Glenn for the nearly 40-year-old murder. However, Grammer added that he could not condone Glenn's release, according to the Denver Post.

During the hearing, Glenn apologized to the actor for his actions.

"I accept that you live with remorse every day of your life, but I live with tragedy every day of my life," Grammer said via video conference on Tuesday. "I accept your apology. I forgive you. However, I cannot give your release my endorsement."

He added: "To give that a blessing would be a betrayal of my sister's life."

Glenn is currently serving a life sentence at the Buena Vista Correctional Facility in Colorado after being convicted of kidnapping the actor's sister from a Colorado Springs Red Lobster restaurant where she worked and stabbing her to death. He was also found guilty of killing two other men.

A prison spokeswoman said Wednesday that Glenn's parole request was denied and he will be eligible for parole again in 2017. Glenn first applied for parole in 2009, in which Grammer wrote a letter to the board expressing his love for his sister and revealing the amount of suffering her death has bought to his family.

During an episode of "Oprah's Next Chapter" Grammer revealed that the death of his sister, grandfather, father and two half-brothers - all of whom died tragically and suddenly - made him lose his faith in God.
