Lawyer Jeffrey Herman has dropped Michael Egan, the man who accused Bryan Singer of sexual assault, as a client.

Egan was dropped after refusing to accept Singer’s $100,000 settlement offer, according to BuzzFeed. Egan confirmed to the website he never accepted the settlement agreement.

“This exact kind of take-it-and-shut-up deal is why I decided to stand up in the first place,” Egan said. “Being silenced goes completely against what I believe in and offers no protection for other vulnerable children.”

Martin Singer, the director’s attorney, claimed Egan was the one who approached them seeking to settle the case out of court, according to Buzzfeed. Martin added, “[Herman] clearly lost confidence in Egan.”

Martin released the following statement to Variety regarding Egan’s case:

“As Egan and his now ex-lawyers know, a legitimate claim in this type of case can run into the millions or dollars, so their willingness to resolve it for such a relatively low figure demonstrates their total lack of confidence in their chances for success. This was their way of trying to save face after an unsuccessful attempted shakedown of Bryan Singer. Bryan and his team will continue to fight to clear his name and intend to pursue charges of malicious prosecution against Egan.”

Attorney John C. Manly is now representing Egan in his case against Singer. Variety reports Egan is expected back in court on Aug. 6. Click here to view document released by BuzzFeed regarding Egan’s alleged settlement.

Egan came forward publicly about his claims against Singer during a press conference on April 17. Egan claimed the Hollywood moguls would drug him and give him alcohol as a minor.

"They pulled me away for their threat sessions and told me...'At the end of the day if you don't keep the members of this group happy, we control Hollywood. We can eliminate you. We will eliminate you,' threat after threat after threat," Egan said during the press conference.
