Apple has silently upgraded the specs of its latest MacBook Pro with Retina display by adding faster chips, bigger RAM along with a modest price drop on its higher-end model.

Apple to sustain the interest in its PCs has discreetly upgraded the new MacBook Pro with Retina display and also doubled its RAM with a  faster processor. It is also offering a discount on a select range.

The latest range of Retina MacBook Pros with revised specs includes three updated 13-inch models and two refreshed 15 inchers. Two new entry level 13-inch MacBook Pro models with 2.4 GHz Intel i5 processor have been updated to 2.6 GHz Intel i5 chip. The RAM size on all new 13-inch screen models gets minimum 8GB on the RAM, up from 4GB prior to the update. The 15-inch Mac Pros have also been upgraded from the old 2.0GHz Intel i7 chip to a faster 2.2GHz Intel i7 processor along with doubled RAM size, from 8GB to 16GB.

This is not the first time Apple has silently upgraded the specs of its Macs. In April this year, Apple slashed the price of its MacBook Air models by $100 and slightly upgraded the specs. But the latest upgrade in specs is much better compared to the previous one, which saw a slight boost from 1.3GHz i5 processor to 1.4GHz chip on both 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air models.

The pricing for the 13 incher remains same as before, it starts from $1299 and goes up to $1799 for the higher-end 13-inch Mac Pro. The latest 13-inch Mac Pro with Retina display sports a faster 2.8 GHz Intel i5 processor while other specs remain the same as the other 13 inchers.

As for the 15-inch models, price for the entry-level MacBook Pro with Retina display is $1999. The higher-end model gets a generous price cut from $3299 to $2999, Gizmodo reports. If buyers wish to ditch the Retina for the MacBook Pro, then the 13-inch model will cost another $200 lesser than the base Retina model, at just $1099.

The new models come shortly after Apple released the latest version of Mac OS X Yosemite at the WWDC 2014. The tech giant released a public beta of the Mavericks successor last week.
