New York Giants star Victor Cruz popped the question to his longtime girlfriend, Elaina Watley... and the proposal was downright romantic. The NFL wide receiver stuck with a simple proposal and the whole thing was captured on video.

On July 13 after a "baby dedication" for the couple's 2-year-old daughter Kennedy, Cruz, Watley and a small group of family and friends all gathered around for prayer before they ate. In the video, obtained by TMZ, the 27-year-old athlete is leading the prayer when he suddenly stopped and dropped to one knee in front of his girlfriend.

"While we're under the name of the Lord, I wanted to say something to Elaina. I've loved you for about all my life, as far back as I can possibly remember. I'm shaking and I don't know why [laughs]. Um, you're beautiful to me. You are the light of my life. You're the mother of my first-born child. I personally want to make an honest woman out of you," Cruz told Watley in the video.

According to TMZ, the proposal happened at the Love of Jesus Family Church in Patterson, N.J.

"The ring is beautiful - it's a round stone with a pink diamond band," Watley told Page Six.

She said the two have not started wedding planning yet but will either have a destination wedding or "an iconic" New York ceremony. Watley and Cruz first met in 2003, when Cruz was a high school senior at Paterson Catholic High School in New Jersey.

Cruz previously gushed about Watley and often calls her "the backbone of my life."

"She's meant a lot to me," he told the New York Daily News in 2012. "She's been a real supporter of my career, and really the backbone of my life. She's just been awesome, man, and I couldn't ask for a better person to be in my life."
