Despite the lyrics to her song "F-ked My Way Up To The Top," singer Lana Del Rey is revealing she found success the old fashion way - by having talent.

In a new interview with Complex Magazine for their August/September issue, the 29-year-old singer addressed the new single, which appears on her upcoming album "Ultraviolence" and explained that the track was her taking a jab at her reputation.

"It's commentary, like, 'I know what you think of me,' and I'm alluding to that," she admitted. "You know, I have slept with a lot of guys in the industry, but none of them helped me get my record deals. Which is annoying."

The New York native was previously engaged to musician Barrie-James O'Neill, whom she dated for three years. Del Rey confessed that she was the reason behind their break-up, blaming it on her emotional instability.

"Definitely demolished that through tons of depression and insecurity," Del Rey said. "Now it's just an untenable relationship, impossible because of my emotional instability...The world was heavy for a couple years."

She added: "I am a little f---ed up. This whole experience has f---ed me up. I don't feel like things have gone well. It's not the way I would have chosen them to go. So it's not like I feel everything's turned around and it's great."

Del Rey said the worst advice on love she has ever been given was, "love doesn't come easily and that relationships are supposed to be a struggle."

The singer has been romantically linked to Marilyn Manson, rapper A$AP Rocky and Guns 'N Roses' Axl Rose. She is currently dating Vogue photographer Francesco Carrozzini, whom she was snapped with earlier this month on a romantic getaway in Italy.

"I like a physical love," she told Complex. "I like a hands-on love. [Pauses.] How can I say this without getting into too much trouble? I like a tangible, passionate love. For me, if it isn't physical, I'm not interested. Everything else is so hard; hopefully love is the one thing that is actually fun."
