Prosecutors claim to have "direct evidence" Shayanna Jenkins, the fiancée of Aaron Hernandez, lied during her grand jury testimony.  Jenkins is charged with perjury, a crime to which she pled not guilty.

Jenkins is facing a perjury charge for allegedly lying in her testimony before a grand jury.  A Massachusetts judge ordered the prosecution last year to give specific examples of how Jenkins allegedly lied, and on Wednesday prosecutors said they have "direct evidence" to support their claim.

Per the Associated Press:

"The prosecution said in a filing Wednesday that it has evidence that contradicts multiple pieces of Shayanna Jenkins' testimony.  Jenkins has pleaded not guilty to perjury.

"Prosecutors say she told the grand jury she couldn't recall where she disposed of the box, which was in a plastic bag, and that she didn't try to conceal the action.  It's not clear what the box contained."

Police purportedly believe Jenkins disposed of a box containing the murder weapon Hernandez allegedly used to murder Odin Lloyd.

Jenkins's attorney filed a motion to dismiss the case in January.

The perjury charge stems from Jenkins's testimony, given to a grand jury on Aug. 13 and Aug. 15.  The prosecution contends Jenkins lied at least 29 times to the grand jury, which ultimately indicted Hernandez on first degree-murder.

Some of the specific instances in which the prosecution believes she lied, according to the Providence Journal, include:

"-Jenkins 'did not have any conversation with Aaron Hernandez' about why the police dropped by his North Attleboro mansion to question him about the June 18 murder of Odin L. Loyd.
-She saw only one gun in the home she shared with Hernandez and their baby daughter.
-She denied having a conversation with Hernandez when he called her on June 18 from his lawyer's office in Boston.
-She doesn't remember what items she removed from their home or how she removed them at (Hernandez's) direction.
-She doesn't remember where she went after she dropped off Hernandez at the North Attleboro police station."

Hernandez is currently being held without bail while awaiting trial for the murder of Lloyd.  A judge on Monday dismissed Hernandez's motion to suppress video evidence that appears to show Hernandez holding a firearm on the morning of Lloyd's death.
