Fans are getting their first look at Ian McKellen as a much-older Sherlock Holmes in Bill Condon's movie, "Mr. Holmes." McKellen tweeted a picture of the image with the caption, "Over 70 actors have previously played Sherlock Holmes. Now he's 93 years old and it's my turn. #MrHolmes."

The film is set in 1947 and follows a long-retired Sherlock Holmes, aged 93, as he reflects on his life and past experiences. Fans will see him at 49-years-old when he's still at the height of his career at his Baker Street consulting room and a lot older after he returns from a trip to Japan, in search of a rare plant with restorative abilities.

In "Mr. Holmes," the retired detective spends most of his days quietly living in his remote Sussex farmhouse with his housekeeper, Mrs. Munro, and her young son, Roger. He is also trying to deal with the diminishing powers of his mind.

Along with the release of the photo, additional cast members were announced, Variety reports, including: Laura Linney as Holmes' housekeeper, Hattie Morahan, Patrick Kennedy, Hiroyuki Sanada, Roger Allam, Phil Davis, Frances de la Tour, and Milo Parker, who plays Mrs. Munro's son.

The film was previously named "A Slight Trick of the Mind" and is based on the 2005 novel A Slight Trick of the Mind by Mitch Cullin.

"Mr. Holmes" is directed by Bill Condon and produced by Anne Carey with Aviv Gilado and Ben Blavtnik as executive producers. The movie will be released in 2015.
