The "How I Met Your Mother" spinoff by executive producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas is no longer in development.

IGN reports the show is officially dead as the producers aren't looking to "re-develop" the series for another network. Bays took to his Twitter account to address rumors of the sequel's revival.

"I don't know why I keep reading articles about this, but since nobody bothers asking us: We are really, truly not working on HIMYD anymore," Bays wrote. "[The show] was fun to work on, terrific cast, terrific writer, but it's over now and we have other stuff we want to do. Maybe in the future it could be something, but I think we need to try something new before we go back to it."

The show was set to star Greta Gerwig in a show about a woman telling her children how she first met their father. The show would have included a new cast of friends living in New York City.

"It's going to be different than the original," Gerwig told Us Weekly back in April. "When the premise of the show is that it's a young man looking for his true love, it's a very different feeling than a young woman looking for her true love. Craig and Carter are making it too, and Emily Spivey is so funny and great. She wrote for SNL for a long time, and wrote the show Up All Night, and I'm in love with her."

However, CBS turned down the show's pilot soon after the "How I Met Your Mother" finale. Co-creator Thomas also commented on the "How I Met Your Dad" revival rumors on his official Twitter account:

"To second my bro @CarterBays, any article you read about #HIMYD being kept alive is not true. Sadly, that project will not move forward. We loved making #HIMYD and are sad it couldn't move ahead, but sometimes that's how it goes. Thanks for all the interest in it -- perhaps it will come back around some day, but first we will do something else! Love to the #HIMYD cast and crew and @spivey_e [How I Met Your Dad executive producer/writer Emily Spivey] -- we are honored we the chance to work together!"
