There's one thing you should know about Ariana Grande: don't compare her to fellow pop star Miley Cyrus. The 21-year-old singer told the Daily Star that she doesn't have anything against Cyrus per se but finds it annoying when people assume she's in constant competition with other female entertainers.

"There are so many comparisons for girls in this industry - it's annoying. I'm not thinking, 'Miley Cyrus is doing this, so I ought to do this too.' We are all trying to do our own things and be successful in our own right."

The two pop stars did get their start as child stars on hit TV shows - Cyrus on Disney's "Hannah Montana" and Grande on Nickelodeon's "Victorious"  - but according to the "Baby I" singer, that's where the similarities end.

Grande also opened up to the Daily Star about shedding her child star image.

"I'm always excited by people evolving, changing and growing up. I just get to showcase it on stage," she said.

"In the past month things have changed drastically in my life," Grande admitted, referring to the success of her latest single Problem with Iggy Azalea. "I can't go out with a little bun on my head and no make-up anymore."

In the past the former child actress was also compared to Selena Gomez. In an interview with Yahoo, Grande said she didn't see where the comparisons were coming from.

"[Selena and I] are really nothing alike," the Grande said last year. "I don't really see [the comparison]. We both started out in children's television, I think we share that in common and we are both doing music... but if you look at us and compare our sounds we aren't that much alike."

However, Grande did say that she hopes to have the same kind of musical success as the "Slow Down" singer.

"She has been incredibly successful thus far in her career and I will feel lucky if I am just as successful," she told Yahoo.
