The 38th annual Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular will be dazzling the New York City area this year at the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. Spectators can gather alongside the East River to watch the display of 50,000 pounds of fireworks light up the sky. NBC will live stream the events, starting at 5 p.m. EST, which will be hosted by TV personality and comedian Nick Cannon.

Enrique Iglesias, Ariana Grande, Lionel Richie and Miranda Lambert will all be providing entertainment. The fireworks display will start promptly at 9 p.m. EST.

There are a number of ways New Yorkers can celebrate Independence Day, whether they are looking to kick back and relax with some friends, quietly check out the Macy's Fireworks show, or enjoy some time bonding with the family.

A nice and relaxing way to kick off your 4th of July festivities is to take a ride on the New York City Water Taxi. Tickets include passed and stationary hors d'oeuvres, a light buffet, dessert and something to drink like soda, juice or water. There will also be a cash bar for those who want either wine or beer.

The ride will last about three and a half hours and leaves from Pier 45 at the Hudson River Park. Check out more information here.


The annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest is always a good way to spend some time with the family. The contest is held every year on July 4 and will take place at Coney Island. Events and activities kick off at 10 a.m. EST with the women's contest starting at 11:30 a.m. and the men's contest beginning at 12:40 p.m.

Last year, Joey Chestnut was the hot dog eating champ and broke his own record when he downed 69 hot dogs in just 10 minutes. The Women's Champion was Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas who ate an impressive 45 hot dogs. For more information about how to get to Coney Island click here.

If you want to watch the fireworks display from a chic and cozy rooftop in NYC, maybe Sky Room is where you should be headed. Partygoers will not only have a spectacular view of the Macy's show but can also enjoy an open bar and picnic-themed snacks. Sky Room will also have burlesque dancers providing entertainment.

The beach is always a popular destination on 4th of July and La Marina is transporting New Yorkers to "Independence Island," a beach party on the Hudson River. Guests can sit back, relax, dig their toes in the sand and enjoy tunes by DJ Sebjak, starting at 3 p.m. EST. Manhattan's South Street Seaport Pier Party, which starts at 1 p.m. EST, will provide classic American live music, face painting for kids, a screening of the film "The Avengers," locally craft beer and wine and a view of the fireworks display.
