Despite bashing their failed marriage, are Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston still good friends?

According to Esquire who spoke to Jean Black, Pitt's makeup artist since 1990, gives more of an in-depth detail over the marriage between the two.

"I think Brad was ready to soar when he met Angie," Black said. "This is not to say anything negative about Jennifer. I was part of that and I know that he and Jennifer are very good friends and he cared deeply for her."

In a recent interview, Pitt said he was wasting his life away with his marriage to the "Friends" star and that "for a long time I thought I did too much damage - drug damage. I was a bit of a drifter."

Black described the differences between Jolie and Aniston and that the "World War Z" star "saw a very adventurous person" in Jolie and "who was grabbing on to life and taking it to its nth degree. It was intriguing because I felt Brad had that in him and wanted to unleash it."

Pitt and Aniston announced their split after five years of marriage in 2005.

Numerous outlets began reporting that Pitt was engaged in an affair with Jolie during the filming of  "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." Since then, the pair dubbed Brangelina, has six children Maddox, 11, Pax, 9, Zahara, 8, Shiloh, 6 and Knox, 4 and Vivienne, 4.

The couple made the announcement last year that the two were engaged after being together for seven years.

Since the breakup, Aniston has dated a slew of celebrities including Vince Vaughn, John Mayer. Aniston, 44, is now engaged to Justin Theroux and the two are expected to tie the know sometime this year.
