A 23-year-old Alabama man rammed a pregnant woman's SUV before he ran her over and killed her, all in front of the woman's daughter and grandchild, police said.

Dewey Green is now facing murder charges for the death of 53-year-old Janice Pitts, whose Lincoln Navigator he rammed into as she sat at a red light on Highway 5 in Douglasville on Wednesday, WSB-TV reported.

"He just kept hitting us, he just kept hitting us," said Iesha Davis, Pitt's daughter who was in the car with her 4-year-old son, the station reported.

When Pitt's got out the car to check the damage, Green pinned her between the two vehicles and continued to mercilessly ram into her until she crumpled to the ground.

"I'm banging on the window, 'Please, you're crushing my mom, you're crushing my mom...He wouldn't look at me," Davis told WSB-TV.

Davis watched helplessly as Green ran over Pitt's body.

"After that, I just completely lost it. I don't understand why. I don't understand why," Davis told the station. "I'll never get the image of my mom's lifeless body lying on the pavement and the man ran over her like she was nothing."

Green drove over a median and ended up on a patch of grass before witnesses were able to stop him.

Police said Green appeared to be confused and smelled of booze.

"No doubt there's alcohol involved," Douglas County police officer Stan Copeland told WSB-TV.

The results of a toxicology test to see if Green was under the influence are pending. It is not clear why Green allegedly committed the murder.

Because she was pregnant, Green could be charged with the baby's death in addition to the charges of murder and aggravated assault he already faces.

"He could be charged with feticide depending on how far long," Copeland told the station.

"She was very happy," Davis told WSB-TV. "She had just got good news about expecting."
