A Connecticut mechanic wrecked an extremely rare Ferrari Enzo on Intersect-95 in Stamford Monday, leaving the pricey sports car damaged.

Accidents on highways are not rare and do not always make the front page headlines, unless the wrecked car is something as rare as a Ferrari Enzo. Such was the case on Monday, when a mechanic took the extremely rare Ferrari sports car on a spin and ended up with an accident on Intersect-95 in Stamford. The car was heavily damaged and was towed from the scene.

The mechanic, identified as Leonardo Garcia, was driving the Ferrari along with Daniel Palchik, who is an Aston Martin technician. Both auto technicians work at Miller Motorcars, Greenwich, Connecticut's luxury car dealership. Garcia suffered a minor cut to the head while Palchik was unharmed, NY Times reported.

The maximum damage was to the pricey Ferrari, which sells from $600,000 to around $3 million at auctions. According to the Connecticut State Police, the car "fishtailed" and spun out of control on Intersect-95 near exit number 8. It struck a wall on the right side of the highway and drifted across the road to hit a barrier on the other side before halting facing incoming traffic, Harford Courant reports. Garcia was cited by the police for failing to stay in marked lanes.

The police identified the owner of the rare 2003 Ferrari Enzo as Micheal Fux of Monmouth Beach, New Jersey. Fux, the multimillionaire founder of Memory Foam mattresses and furniture company Sleep Innovations, was unavailable for comment when Reuters reached out. According to Forbes' listing, Fux is quite a car enthusiast himself who owns numerous rare luxury vehicles much like the Enzo. His collection includes the "first-ever bespoke Rolls-Royce Ghost," a Ferrari FXX, 20 of which were ever made, and a custom-made candy-apple red Mercedes-Benz SLS.

The Ferrari Enzo is an extremely rare sports car named after the renowned Italian car company's founder, Enzo Ferrari. Only 400 Enzos were produced and owning one is precious for any car enthusiast.
