Demi Lovato is sharing a secret about her family's history.

E! News reported that Lovato, who is an active supporter of the LGBT community, revealed that her grandfather was a gay man. The 21-year-old "Heart Attack" singer shared the news before presenting an award at the New York Logo TV's inaugural Trailblazers Awards on Tuesday.

"I've never spoken about this before, but my grandfather was a trailblazer himself," the singer said. "He was brave enough to come out in the 1960s, and I feel that a lot of my spirit has come from him. He passed away a few years later and I only wish he could have been able to see all the progress that has been made."

Lovato added. "It's such an honor to be welcomed and embraced by the LGBT community, so thank you very much."

Lovato said she felt honored to be "welcomed and embraced by the LGBT community." Lovato, who was named the grand marshal of Los Angeles' gay pride, is set to perform at New York's upcoming pride festival.

The "Neon Lights" singer presented an award to Netflix's hit comedy-drama series "Orange Is the New Black," which was accepted by the series stars Laverne Cox, Lea Delaria, Taryn Manning, Matt McGorry and Samira Wiley.

Logo TV's inaugural Trailblazers Awards honors individuals who support LGBT rights. Awards were also presented to NBA player Jason Collins, Ugandan gay rights activist John "Longjones" Abdallah Wambere, and Edie Windsor, the widow who helped overturn the Defense of Marriage Act. Other presenters included Adam Levine, Nate Ruess, Daniel Radcliffe, Joe Manganiello, Lance Bass and Pete Wentz.

The Logo TV's inaugural Trailblazers Awards will be aired on Thursday on Logo TV at 9 p.m. EST.
