T-Mobile is now aiming at the vast music streaming industry for transformation as it launched a new free music streaming service of its own, unRadio.

T-Mobile, the fourth largest wireless carrier in the US, announced a new music streaming service that challenges giants like Pandora and Spotify using its Un-carrier strategy. The new service is called unRadio and changes the way people use their internet music services today. It is offering six key features that usually come with premium packages, free to its top tier customers.

"This new music streaming service is so unlike traditional Internet radio, there was only one possible name for it - unRadio," Mike Sievert, Chief Marketing Officer for T-Mobile, said in a press release, Wednesday. "We wanted to do something over the top for our customers, so we teamed up with our friends across town at Rhapsody to do what the Un-carrier does so well - turning convention on its head to benefit our customers."

T-Mobile subscribers on Simple Choice unlimited 4G LTE data plan can enjoy unRadio, powered by Rhapsody. Music lovers will get  uninterrupted services without advertisements while streaming music from a library of over 20 million songs and allows them to skip as unlimited songs . UnRadio does not limit users to just six skips per hour, which is usually the case with traditional internet radio services.

In addition, listeners can also take advantage of on-demand streaming or downloading for offline playback and also choose favorite music tracks. UnRadio also lets listeners create their own stations or enjoy from the hundreds of professionally created ones. It also offers live streaming radio from local stations, such as KCRW in Los Angeles, KEXP in Seattle, and Chicago's WXRT and many more from around the world.

Rhapsody unRadio also offers a unique feature, TrackMatch, which is similar to Shazam. It helps listeners identify a song playing at a bar, party or even TV and lets users create stations or mark them as favorites.

Though the service is only available for Simple Choice top tier subscribers at no charge, other T-Mobile customers can also subscribe for unRadio for $4 a month, which is a discounted price from its $5/month plan.
