Katy Perry is hoping to launch some fireworks with her very own record label.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 29-year-old "Dark Horse" singer announced the launch of her record label, Metamorphosis Music. The new label will run in association with Perry's current label, Capital Records, which represents stars like Jennifer Lopez.

"I'm preparing for it now," she told THR. "And when this record label does come to fruition, I'm going to try and avoid the things that take away any fighting chance for an artist to have financial success. As people are coming to me with opportunities, I'm thinking, 'How would I want to be treated?'"

The first artist to sign with Metamorphosis Music is pop rock singer Ferras, whom she met in 2007 when they were both newly signed artists to Capitol Records. Perry describes his music as "incredibly talented & soulful".

"Introducing my new label venture with @capitolrecords featuring my first artist FERRAS @ferras," Perry wrote on her Instagram, along with a picture of the label's logo.

Ferras' self-titled EP was released on iTunes Tuesday. The five-song record, produced by Perry, includes his first single "Legends Never Die," with guest vocals from Perry.

"Ferras is a man with a message, and a unique lyrical way of communicating his perspective on life that makes you feel connected to every note when you listen," Perry said in a statement about signing Ferras. "'Speak in Tongues' is a song with raw emotional power that I wish I wrote. I believe he is going to be an important artist to watch unfold. I am so ecstatic the world gets to hear his music now both online and on tour with me."

Perry has reportedly been working on launching her own label for the past two years. According to THR, Perry knew the L.A.-based singer, songwriter and musician would be the first person signed to her label.

"Her instincts are really on point," Ferras said. "She is very blunt and doesn't sugar-coat things, which I appreciate. Also, she gave me the freedom to do what I wanted musically and was a natural partner."

He added: "I think of every song as having its own world. I try not to categorize it; it's a pop record with many different textures, but it's definitely dark in places... Being onstage is pure bliss. There's no greater high than experiencing that exchange of energy. I need that charge."

Ferras will also be joining Perry on her "Prismatic World Tour" starting June 22.
