Nike FuelBand App Finally Debuts On Android

Nike has officially launched the FuelBand app for Android users, expanding from iOS to the world's largest mobile operating platform.

The wait is finally over for Android users to sync their fitness programs with Android smartphones using Nike's FuelBand SE health tracker. The renowned sports brand launched an app for Android smartphones that can pair its FuelBand SE health tracker to monitor health and fitness goals. Limited to only iOS devices earlier, Nike+FuelBand app for Android is a great addition for users who longed to use their wearable trackers with devices running on the world's largest mobile platform.

Nike announced the new Nike+ FuelBand app for Android in a company's blog post, Tuesday, to kick start those motivating Nike+ Sessions and goals. To begin with, the app is supported on select flagship handsets running Android 4.3 and above, including Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, Nexus 5, HTC One and Moto X. With this major integration, FuelBand owners can create a Nike+ account, set daily goals, enable activity reminders, view workout history and compare stats with friends or other FuelBand users through the Nike+ Friends feature

"With 30 million users, NikeFuel is rapidly becoming the universal measure of activity. Now, with the launch of the Nike+ FuelBand App for Android we're delighted to help even more athletes get better," Stefan Olander, Nike's VP of Digital Sport, said in a statement. "This is another important step in the continued growth of our powerful ecosystem of digital products and services."

Unfortunately, the Android expansion comes with tragic news for the first generation FuelBand owners, who are left out in the cold with no support for Android.

The Nike FuelBand Android app, like its iOS counterpart, allows users to create goals and monitor the progress. On completing a set goal, Nike displays an onscreen celebration

The FuelBand SE connects to the smartphone via Bluetooth. Owners of Nike's sports band can download the app for free from Google Play Store. However, the app isn't available globally and accessible to users only in the US, UK, Canada, Germany and Japan.

If you already do not own a FuelBand, head over to the official Nike store and order one for $149.
