After much anticipation Microsoft finally announced its new Xbox console Tuesday, according to CBS News. The software giant plans to change the gaming industry with the new “Xbox One.”

"Today, we look forward," said Don Mattrick, Microsoft president of interactive business. "It's time for technology to step behind the curtain and for you and entertainment to take center stage."

According to Xbox.com, the One brings a whole host of new features to the gaming—or rather the entertainment—industry.

It all begins with the words “Xbox on.” Say this and your Xbox powers on.

In addition to voice command, the One comes with a more user-friendly home screen, Skype, and cloud integration, according to CBS News.

The new console features Snap Mode. This mode allows the user to run more than one program at a time. For example, if you’re playing the latest Madden video game and decide you want to watch the latest episode of “Scandal”, you can easily switch from your game to the show. Also, you can talk to your friend on Skype while watching NFL football.

Depending on your TV provider certain users will be able to watch TV on the Xbox.

The One comes with eight gigabytes of RAM, a USB 3.0 connector, a Blu-ray drive, and HMDI in and out. The console runs on three systems combined into one—the Xbox operating system, Windows Kernel, and a blend of the two to facilitate the multitasking function.

In order to support the features that run on the cloud, Microsoft will use 300,000 servers to run Xbox Live on the One—as opposed to the 3,000 servers used for the Xbox 360.

Tuesday’s reveal was just the first half of the Xbox One presentation. Microsoft will show more of the Xbox One’s capabilities at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3)
