Waffle House will look over its tip policies for employees after denying a waitress $1,000 gratuity.

The company apologized for the mishap on their Facebook page Tuesday.

"This has given us cause to review our procedures so we can get tips to our associates quicker in these unusual situations," the company said in the post. "It says a lot about this customer that he was willing to tip our associate this generous amount. Our intentions were for the associate to get her tip all along. We are sorry that our associate and the customer are having to go through this."

According to The News and Observer, a Raleigh, N.C. Waffle House returned the money to the good Samaritan who lent it to the mother of two and seven year veteran waitress Shaina Brown. The man had enjoyed a texas bacon patty melt in the wee morning hours of Mother's Day. He also gave Brown $500 for another woman he saw sitting in the restaurant.

The Waffle House gives big tips back to customers as a normal procedure. Employees also request bountiful contributors give the same amount in cash or by check. This helps workers assist with instances when customers want to question the amount they gave, or request a refund.

Several Waffle House customers expressed their views about the error on the company's Facebook page.

"I've eaten at Waffle House quite a bit and I understand their concern, but this could have been handled better," Jim Lackey said in a post. "They could have contacted the tipper and made sure this wasn't a mistake instead of resorting to corporate bullying. This is typical of the business atmosphere in the U.S. today. No respect for employees."

"I like Waffle House employees," customer Bill Gleason said in his comment. "I have only had nice waitresses and great service."
