LG has gone ahead of its  chief rival Samsung in the South Korean market with remarkable sales of its flagship G3 smartphone.

LG Electronics, one of the biggest smartphone makers, is giving its rivals a run for their money with the launch of its flagship G3 smartphone in South Korea. LG's biggest competition in South Korea, Samsung, is also feeling the heat. According to a report from Korea IT Times, LG G3 is outperforming its rival's Galaxy S5 with a wide margin, 25,000 - 30,000 units a day versus 7,000 - 8,000 units of Samsung's flagship during its launch.

In a latest development in the G3's sales report, the LG smartphone has surpassed the 100,000 mark in just five days, which makes G3 the company's fastest selling smartphone in history.

LG launched its latest flagship smartphone in South Korea, last Wednesday. With the early response to the G3 smartphone in its homeland, LG is off to a good start for its new handset before it sets off to other countries worldwide. The smartphone stands strong on its own, with incredible features and high-end specs enough to go against players like Apple and Samsung.

The LG G3 features a 5.5-inch QHD display with 538ppi, which is four times the resolution of HD display and almost two times higher than a full HD display. It boasts a 13-megapixel optical image stabilizer plus camera with laser auto focus capability. Powered by a 2.5GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, the G3 packs 2GB RAM for 16GB variant and 3GB RAM for the 32GB model, Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS along with G3's unique smart features.

Despite the staggering weekend sales for LG, Apple leads the charts in terms of weekend sales with 5 million units of its flagship handset in the first three days of launch. Samsung, too, had a good start with its S5. The South Korean giant launched the Galaxy S5 in 125 markets and sold 10 million units in the first 25 days of launch. Compared to this, LG has only raked in thousands but that is justified with its South Korean launch.

LG has already surpassed the sales of the G2 smartphone, which sold less than 10,000 units each day.
