On Wednesday, June 4 a rumor surfaced that actress Emily Blunt was close to signing on to Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." The rumor was first reported by El Multicine (via Latino Review).

According to Latino Review, not much is known about the alleged role.

"The actress Emily Blunt will land on billboards worldwide with her film 'Edge of Tomorrow,' in what appears to be a great science fiction role. Now her name returns to the orbit of comic adaptions with her possible incorporation in 'Batman vs. Superman,' directed by Zack Snyder. A film that has been shooting since last month," El Multicine reports.

While it's not clear what (if any) role Blunt is up for, there has been speculation that she could play Catwoman in "Dawn of Justice," according to Screenrant. This isn't the first time the actress' name has been linked to a Warner Bros. superhero film.

Reportedly Blunt passed on "Captain America" to play Catwoman in "The Dark Knight Rises" but the role eventually went to Anne Hathaway. The same day the casting rumor surfaced about Blunt, Batman-Om-Film reported that fans could see Commissioner James Gordon in the upcoming film.

Warner Bros. has not responded to the latest rumors, so as of now, this is all speculation. While fans may be excited to hear about Blunt's alleged "Batman" role, the site Batman News remains skeptical and reported that there is no absolutely no truth to it.

"I don't want to see fans get excited over something that doesn't have a chance of becoming a reality," the site wrote, pointing out that established sites like Variety and Deadline have not reported on the rumor.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" will be released May 6, 2016.
