Sony has finally made the SmartBand SWR10 activity tracker available in the US after announcing the wearable during the CES trade show earlier this year.

Sony, one of the biggest electronics company, has brought the SmartBand SWR10 activity tracker in the US after a long delay. The wearable band was announced at the CES trade show 2014 and was slated for a March release following the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. But the device never actually made it to the US as it was predicted, until now. The SmartBand SWR10 is available through company's official website and retail stores in the U.S.

The Sony SmartBand is designed to be worn at all times and features durability and activity tracking capabilities. The Japanese tech giant released the gadget first in the European market earlier this year. The move is a sign of Sony's priority toward markets other than China and the U.S. According to a report from TechCrunch, the tech giant is focusing on markets where its presence is more prominent for rivals like Jawbone and FitBit.

Although there has been a delay in the U.S. launch, the SmartBand SWR10 remains unchanged with its hardware and specs. The new wearable by Sony pairs with any Android device running 4.4 KitKat version via Bluetooth and displays the data tracked by the band. In addition to health tracking, the wearable monitors sleep patterns and also vibrates to notify the wearer when a paired smartphone is out of a certain range. It notifies wearers of incoming calls, texts, tweets and likes by vibrating.

The companion app called Lifelog can be downloaded from Google Play Store for free, which the SmartBand uses to show all the data on the smartphones.

The SmartBand is waterproof with IP55/58 rating so it can be worn continuously regardless of the conditions. Each unit comes with a removable white "Core" and two adjustable black wristbands. It can be ordered online directly from Sony for $99.99 or consumers can pick it up from retail outlets across the States.
