Sony's new Xperia T3 is packed in an ultra-slim, lightweight body and comes with mid-range specs.

Sony, one of the finest smartphone makers around the world, introduced a new addition to its Xperia lineup that crams mid-to-high end specs into a 7mm thin smartphone. The Xperia T3, which Sony claims to be the world's slimmest 5.3-inch smartphone, builds on the company's exquisite design with an all-steel body. The smartphone features a Bravia screen and an Exmore camera among other reasonably sufficient specifics.

Despite Sony's claims, the Xperia T3 is not the world's thinnest smartphone. Gionee Elife S5.5, which measures just 5.55mm, is the world's thinnest smartphone. But if the Japanese multinational company is considering the screen size of the T3, which is 5.3-inch compared to Elife's 5-inch display, as a different category then sure it is the thinnest phone. The phone is light and offers great mid-range features.

"The T3 is packed with the latest beautiful technology from Sony - including leading digital imaging expertise and a vivid HD display - all within a stylish, stainless steel frame," Calum MacDougall, director of Xperia marketing at Sony, said in a press release, Tuesday. "The combination of this beautiful technology and the premium design ensures the T3 immediately stands apart from the competition."

Sony Xperia T3 is powered by a quad-core 1.4GHz Snapdragon processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage with expandable option up to 32GB via microSD card and Android 4.4 KitKat. Within that 7mm thin chassis, Xperia T3 features a 5.3-inch HD TRILUMINOS display, which comes with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, and a 2,500mAh battery. The new Bravia technology used in the display, the Mobile Bravia Engine 2, offers great viewing pleasure and the IPS display gives clear pictures from different angles.

Sony has included its master Cyber-shot technology in the Xperia T3, which features an 8-megapixell Exmore camera to snap commendable photos in challenging lighting conditions. The camera also features AR effect, which can be used to add sound effects and animations to photos and videos. The Xperia T3 also packs Timeshift burst mode that takes 31 frames within 2 seconds so every moment is captured behind the camera. With Creative effects, users can change colors, add image trails and apply mirror effects.

If these features are not tempting enough for you to make a switch from your existing smartphone, Sony has you covered with its Xperia Transfer. Be it an Android or iOS smartphone, Sony's easy transfer technology lets users move contacts, photos, bookmarks, apps, music, messages among other important stuff from an old phone to the new Xperia T3. Xperia Transfer Mobile2 offers seamless mobile-to-mobile transfer, without the need to connect to a computer.

Sony did not reveal the pricing details but will launch the handset globally by the end of next month.
