Foxconn Electronics announced today that it will be making a 5.5-inch and a 4.7-inch iPhone this year.

Foxconn is the leading manufacturer of smartphones in the world, as well as one of the oldest partners for Apple's iPhone, according to Firstpost.

The company issued a press release stating that it will supply 70 percent of all shipments for the 4.7-inch phone for 2015. Foxconn added, however, that it will keep making the older 4-inch iPhones. It was also mentioned that Apple expects 4-inch phones, along with the new 4.7-inch device, to draw in the most sales for this year.

Reports have claimed that Apple has been having problems manufacturing the 5.5-inch phone to its precise specifications, Helena-Arkansas reported.

However, a report from Taiwanese newspaper DigiTimes said "Apple is rumored to release a 5.5-inch and a 4.7-inch iPhone in 2014 with Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) said to be manufacturing both models, with Pegatron has landed 30% of the 4.7-inch model's orders, according to sources from the upstream supply chain."

The phablet was first made popular by Samsung Group, combine the features of a smartphone with that of a tablet.

The press statement said Foxconn's manufacturing plants in Zhengzhou, China, are expected to begin supplying the 4.7-inch phone in July, which could mean that it will be available in August. Manufacturing for the 5.5-inch phone will begin in August, but the press statement does not mention a release date, Firstpost reported.

The company announced earlier that it is looking to produce 90 million iPhone 6 units this year, but did not provide details about how much of each model will be made.

The new iPhone 6 is expected to come with a resolution of 1704 x 960 pixels, with the handset featuring a new Apple A8 processor, Geeky Gadgets reported.

A new camera with electronic stabilization has also been rumored to be in the iPhone 6, as is Apple iOS 8.
