HTC Corp. provided a look at its new HTC One E8, a variant of its flagship phone, on its Chinese website Thursday.

The reveal follows rumors of the Taiwanese smartphone maker developing a variant of the phone that provides the same specifications while in a plastic body, according to Ubergizmo.

The device, previously known as the HTC M8 Ace, is now on sale in China. According to rumors, it appears in a plastic body while including most of the features in the HTC One M8.

Several details were provided about the One E8 when it was first introduced, such as its 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and HTC BoomSound audio system, CNET reported.

No official press release about the phone has been released yet.

Using plastic helps HTC reduce its production costs, making it a competitor for the Galaxy S5, Ubergizmo reported.

The One E8 includes Android 4.4 Sense 6.0, along with a 5MP camera, Android Community reported.

The phone doesn't include the Dual Camera featured in the HTC One M8. Instead of the Ultrapixel option, it features a 13MP shooter on the back of the device. The flash is located in the same area as the camera on the One M8.

The display's size is not listed on the website, but it is believed to be the same 5-inch full HD display on the One M8, Android Community reported. The company has also not released information on the price, but it is expected of being lower than the price of the One M8.

It is currently unknown if the One E8 will be available outside of China.

In order to make sure it can compete with other manufacturers in China, HTC will have a competitive price for its new phone, Ubergizmo reported.

A formal announcement from the company is expected next week.
