Google has made an almost unidentifiable change to its ubiquitous logo but the modification did not go unnoticed for long as it was spotted by some users on Reddit before Google confirmed it.

Even now as you look closely at the Google logo on its homepage, it is extremely hard to spot the slight change in its alignment. But the logo has definitely been tweaked over the weekend. The change was first spotted by users on Reddit and later reported by several news publications. According to theReddit thread about the tweaked logo, Google moved the second "g" in the logo slightly to the right and the letter "l" to the right and lower, everything by just a pixel.

But how big of a deal is this slight change in the logo for Google?

Gizmodo highlighted the importance of the kerning adjustment in Google's logo by linking to a detailed Wikipedia article about "kerning." Proper spacing between the characters in a proportional font is one of the key elements to show a clean and polished text in the digital world. The kerning of Google logo, which was quite discreet initially, received a confirmation from the web giant itself.

In a statement to Gizmodo, a Google spokesperson said: "Great to see people notice and appreciate even single-pixel changes - we tweaked the logo a little while ago to make sure it looks its sharpest regardless of your screen resolution."

Google has made a series of changes to its logo since the company was formed in 1998. The company made only three major changes, twice in 1998 and again in August 1999. But the company has used its logo as a way to keep the homepage interactive as well as informative through its Google Doodles. The web giant has a dedicated team to create interactive Doodle's that highlight recognized occasions. The team has created more than a thousand Doodles till date and also takes ideas and suggestions from anyone outside its internal team.
