Honda's best selling Accord sedan has two titles under its hood - the most popular car in 2014 and also the most stolen and recovered vehicle in 2013.

Luxury, style statement, durability and performance calls for one name in the U.S. automobile industry, the Honda Accord, at least this is what the Japanese car maker said in its first 2014 quarterly report. While Accord's number one ranking has toppled the powerful Ford F-150 from the best-selling vehicle rank in the US during its first quarter, other Honda vehicles have also made it to the top-five list with Civic and CR-V ranking third and fourth this year.

Honda, one of the biggest automakers around the world, has made a powerful impact by stripping Ford's F-150 truck from its 37-year hold on the title of best-selling truck and 32 years of best-selling vehicle in the US. The new rankings are based on the retail registrations from January through March, this year, which gives Honda Accord a lead of less than 1000 units over F-150 pick-up truck.

"We're thrilled to be leading the pack in the first lap around the track in 2014," Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of Honda, said in a press release, last Thursday. "In a business environment marked by intense competition and heavy incentives, we want to thank our Honda customers for the trust they continue to place in our products."

According to the report, Honda surpassed 78,000 retail registrations for Accord as of March and Civic had 70,677 retail registrations, giving a comfortable lead of more than 10,000 units in small cars category. As for Honda's third best-selling vehicle, CR-V rose to 67,773 retail registrations, which is a 3.9 percent increase from the same quarter last year.

In a separate report from tracking and recovery company LoJack and the National Insurance Crime Bureau, Honda Accord also topped another category; that of the most stolen and recovered vehicle in 2013. LoJack put together a list of 10 models that were most popular among thieves last year, which was topped by Accord for the fifth year in a row, says a report from ABC News.
