Some are speculating that Samsung Group will release its Galaxy Note 4 phablet on Sept. 3rd of this year.

The website Android Geeks said the South Korean company could be choosing this date to compete with Apple, which usually releases its new iPhones in September, according to GMA News.

"In fact it's not surprising at all to hear that the Note 4 will be released in September," the site said. "Samsung has always used the Galaxy Note phablets as instruments meant to steal some of the potential iPhone buyers."

Samsung released its previous Note phablet, the Galaxy Note 3, on September 26, 2013. Over 12 million Note 3s were sold within three months of its release, Zee News reported.

The Galaxy Note 4 has been rumored to add improvements to its predecessor, as while as keep features like "Multi Network for Booster", "Aqua Capture", and "Smart Fingerprint". The Note 4 is speculated to have a 5.9-inch or possibly 6-inch display, which is larger than the Note 3's display, which is 5.7 inches. The Note 4 is also rumored to have a 20-megapixel camera.

It has not been determined yet if customers will be able to buy the device at a store on Sept. 4th, or if the company is looking to hold preorders on the same day as the launch event, Greenbot reported.

The Note 4 has also been rumored to have either Exynos Hexa or Snapdragon 801 chipset innards that would power the phablet.

The pre-IFA 2014 Samsung Unpacked event, which Android Geeks and others in the industry have suspected will be the unveiling event the device, is schedule to take place in September, Zee News reported.

The Note 4 will face competition from HTC, LG, SONY, and other electronics companies. These rivals are reportedly looking to get involved in the same segment.
