"Fidel is Dying" Castro sarcastically titled his latest article on the rumours that have been doing the rounds on the international media and said he doesn't even suffer from headaches.

The article condemned the imperialist Western media for spreading rumours that he was either dead or in a neuro-vegetative state and the state-run newspaper published some photos taken by his son Alex showing the political figure standing outside near some trees wearing a checked shirt and cowboy hat. Another photo showed the revolutionary icon reading Friday's copy of the Communist Party newspaper Granma.

The Western media and the online social network circles were abuzz with the news of Castro's death following a news report on Spanish newspaper ABC which quoted an unidentified Venezuelan doctor who claimed that Castro suffered a stroke and was on the verge of death. The report said the mass leader suffered a massive embolism in the right cerebral artery and described his state of health as very close to a neural-vegetative state.

Meanwhile, the former vice president of Venezuela, Elias Jaua who visited Castro on Oct. 21, said he is very well. Jaua also showed off a picture of Castro with many others with the leader dressed in a checkered shirt and straw hat.

The rumours erupted as Castro did not congratulate his close ally Hugo Chavez when he won re-election as president of Venezuela which was followed by a slew of reports suggesting that the Cuban revolutionary is on his death bed. Castro has not made any public appearance ever since Pope Benedict XVI's visit to Cuba in March.
