Columbus Short has allegedly violated a restraining order issued by a judge earlier this year.

TMZ reported that the former "Scandal" actor has been contacting his estranged wife, Tanee McCall-Short, violating a court-ordained restraining order. During a hearing on Wednesday, McCall-Short's lawyer said the 31-year-old "violated the restraining order against him six times."

McCall-Short reportedly requested that a judge make a temporary order for permanent. A judge is reportedly taking the request into consideration. McCall-Short's restraining order against her husband of nearly nine years expires on July 30th.

The restraining order was taken out after Short was accused of trying to kill McCall-Short on April 7. The couple reportedly got into an argument in which the actor demanded his wife admit to having a romantic affair with another person. Further documents stated that Short yelled at her abusively and held a knife close to her throat, then threatened to kill her and himself.

Shortly after the incident, McCall-Short filed for divorce for the third timem citing irreconcilable differences. She's also seeking full legal and physical custody of their two-year-old daughter, Ayala. Short faces a misdemeanor spousal battery case for allegedly threatening to kill McCall-Short.

Short recently pleaded not guilty to felony battery charges alleging that he punched a man during a disagreement at a West Los Angeles restaurant on March 15. Short's legal problems reportedly cost him his job on ABC's hit political drama, "Scandal."

"At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I've called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble on television today. I would like to first thank Shonda Rhimes for the opportunity to work with such an amazing cast," Short's statement read about his departure.
