Cloud storage service Box has rolled out a new update to Android app with a fresh UI, quick preview of photos and documents and it comes pre-loaded on LG premium phones.

Box, one of the most popular cloud storage services, has pushed out a new update to its Android app to compete with bigger giants like Google, Microsoft and Dropbox. The new features bring a whole new experience to the Box users complete with an updated image gallery, document previewer with support for over 100 file types, refreshed UI and additional storage for LG branded smartphones.

The Box version 3.0 is one of the biggest updates the company has rolled out since its launch in 2010, product manager for mobile Simon Tan said in the company's official blog post, Tuesday. The new previewer for images and documents is a useful addition to the app, mainly for users storing hundreds and thousands of important documents and photos on the cloud. The update allows Box users to quickly sift through images without having to wait for the app to load the full resolution photos.

The document previewer not only supports more than 100 file types including PowerPoint, but also features options like page thumbnails, grid views, full text search within documents and more. More importantly, users with Box Onecloud apps can take advantage of improved functions such as signing contracts, annotating reports and e-faxing spreadsheets, Tan wrote.

Box alongside OneCloud apps has also introduced a new messaging application called "Hall" that simplifies the process of sharing files from the cloud account and "Documents to Go," which is an editing app with support for popular Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF files.

Box also cemented its partnership with LG further. The Box comes pre-loaded in LG G-series devices, which also throws in 50GB free online storage for 1 year in the US, Western Europe and South Korea.

Box will push the update to all Android app and new users can get the app for free from Google Play Store.
