Samsung's Gear Glass will reportedly resemble Google's Glass device when it debuts this fall.

According to Business Insider, Samsung plans to unveil the gadget at Berlin's IFC technology conference on Sept. 5.

Samsung told Business Insider that the company chose to launch the product after Galaxy gear smartwatches sold well in Sept. 2013.

"We rolled out the smartwatch first and have secured a considerable amount of smart glass-related technology and patents. Following the rollout of our smart watch Galaxy Gear in September last year, we are slated to introduce our smart glass Gear Glass this September," a company associate told Business Insider.

A top company executive tweeted the device might drop this spring.

"Samsung developing own version of Google Glass. We will see it (probably) around april-may under Gear Glass brand," Eldar Murtazin said in a post on his Twitter account.

The Galaxy Gear's OLED screen allows consumers to take photos and answer phone calls hands-free. The device, a supplement to the company's Galaxy smartphone, also alerts users when they receive messages in their inbox.

Meanwhile, Google continues to evolve the company's $1,500 Glass. Users can look for songs, review playlists and hear tunes in good quality while wearing the device. A recording capability allows consumers to capture video footage of their whereabouts by pushing a button on the device.

Google Glass also comes with games that include tennis and a balance game that tests users' ability to keep books level on their heads.

A matching game examines how well one pairs patches with similar patterns, while the Shape Splitter game, much like Fruit Ninja, uses hand movements to cut incoming shapes, according to the company's blog.

Android's KitKat operating system gave Google Glass more battery power when it was first released on April 15, PC Magazine reported.

The device is available for public sale, following a restock of inventory following a one-day sale that wiped out Google's Glass inventory in April.
