When it comes to dating, meeting someone with a rocky past might be expected. But when someone's past consists of two murders, that's a bit extreme.

The audience of a Turkish dating show was shocked when a 62-year-old contestant said he killed his first wife and axed a former lover to death, USA Today reported.

Sefer Calinak, who wants a new wife, made the comment while talking to the host of "The Luck of The Draw" this week on the station Flash TV, according to the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet Daily News, USA Today reported.

Calinak said he married his first wife, who was his cousin, when they were both 17. The two eloped when the girl's family tried to make her marry a widower, according to USA Today.

But at some point their marriage turned sour.

"Her behavior changed. The nephew of the man who wanted to marry her started to come to our village. I was jealous and I killed her, in a way," Calinak said according to the Turkish paper, USA Today reported.

The husband was sentenced to 13-years in prison, but was released after a little more than four years due to an amnesty program.

Calinak then remarried, separated from his second wife and began an affair with a married woman who promised to leave her husband for him. The woman later changed her mind.

One day the two got into an argument, during which Calinak said he was defending himself with an ax.

"I killed her after she tried to kill me," Calinak said according to USA Today. "She was accidentally killed when I swung the ax."

Calinak served six more years in prison and was released again in an amnesty program.

The contestant was asked to leave the show after relaying his turbulent past. But before he was asked to leave, Calinak said:

"I'm an honest person looking for a new wife."
